Adding MRDS to the mining asset dataset

By Global Mining Dataset

We've added records from the USGS Mineral Resources Data System, or MRDS, to Global Mining Dataset.

MRDS brings a wider range of mineral-resource information into the platform, including mines, deposits, prospects and occurrences. Where available, its records include site names, coordinates, commodities, development status and deposit information. That gives us additional evidence for assets already in the dataset and broadens the types of locations we can represent.

We've standardised the records and connected them to the asset-matching process. Supporting names and source information are retained, so related evidence can contribute to one published asset rather than being treated as unrelated entries.

MRDS includes historical records, and the detail varies between sites. We're retaining that source context so you can understand where the information came from when using it in a screen. You can read more in the MRDS source documentation and Asset Universe guide.
