Adding global mining polygons
By Global Mining Dataset
We've added global mining polygon data to the asset integration process. This gives the dataset mapped footprint evidence alongside the point locations used to find and screen assets.
A point is useful for searching and comparing locations, but a mapped footprint adds detail about the mining area represented in the source. The integration retains polygon geometry and available area information so that evidence can support the asset record.
We've connected the polygon records to the same matching process used for the other sources. Where the evidence supports a relationship, a footprint can be linked with the relevant asset while keeping its original source information.
This is the foundation for bringing more mining-area context into the platform. Matching and map presentation have continued to develop since this addition. The data source documentation explains the mining polygon source and its coverage, and Understanding the Asset Universe describes how records are brought together.
